At Sports Illustrated, I am the show runner and lead producer for SI’s Shows Team. Everything from shooting field & studio segments to writing copy to editing the full show together is handled by me and my team. Below is a selection of clips and sizzles, as well as a couple of short features that I have played a major role in creating, meaning that I had creative control and say in building from the ground up.
These are the current NBA shows I’m co-producing for Sports Illustrated, all of which were brand new when we launched them for this season.
HandPicked is a show I am extremely proud of. I came up with the look along with a graphic designer and together we’ve created something that I think is very visually interesting and super cool. That along with good writing and I think this is one of the better series I’ve ever worked on.
This is a fun concept for a basketball show I launched in which both hosts make their case on a certain topic. I designed the graphics myself and have had a blast producing it.
Swish or Brick is a show I helped launch along with my co-producer and the hosts involved in the show. Its a fun concept in which the hosts try to surprise each other with outlandish takes that they actually believe in. Its been very entertaining to make and even more so to watch the final product.
Some clips from my favorite show I’ve worked on, “Crossover TV”.
On Crossover TV, we just wanted to have fun and see if we could make that translate to an audience with a sort of lo-fi feel. I play a cameo role in this clip that was one of the most fun moments of my professional career!
This short clip from Crossover TV is a great example of the way we covered NBA news just by trying to have fun with it. The graphic is something I made after going through pre-pro and discussing with hosts how we wanted to spin the story forward.
In this short clip from Crossover TV, we played one of our favorite games — “7 Seconds or Less” — with NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire, where he had to do a number of tasks in under 7 seconds, including drawing his favorite animal.
Sizzles for shows of Series that I was Show Runner on.
Sizzle for Planet Futbol, SI’s soccer show starring Grant Wahl and Luis Miguel Echegaray covering everything in the world of soccer, domestic and international.
Sizzle for The Will Leitch Show, SI’s late night-style talk show starring Will Leitch, which covers the intersection of sports and politics with a humorous twist.
Sizzle for season 2 of Crossover TV, SI’s basketball show focused on the social media an lifestyle of the NBA. I am the show runner for Crossover.
Sizzle for the revamped season 2 of The Line, SI’s groundbreaking sports gambling show.
Sizzle for The Wilder Project, SI’s social media focused talk show starring Charlotte Wilder.
This page details all the non-series work I’ve done for SI, including one-off features and show episodes that I filled in as show runner for.
A live NBA Draft Show that I executive produced for Sports Illustrated in 2019. This one was a major challenge and learning experience for me, but it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in my career and did extremely well, totaling over 4 million views for some reason.
“The Breakdown” was a sponsored show that ran on SI.com that consisted of a deep dive into a specific hard news topic in the sports world, usually combined with interviews with appropriate experts. I filled in as the Show Runner for a few weeks and it was a really interesting and rewarding experience, getting to actually really dive in to a topic and learn about it and co-write an entire episode with host Madelyn Burke.
For the 75th Anniversary of the NBA, the feature I took on was modeled after Marvel’s “What If?” show, examining plot points throughout NBA history through the lens of “What if a different decision was made”. It was a really fun exercise that I got to write, direct, edit, and create all new graphics for….all in less than 48 hours.
For the pilot of my show “In The Paint”, host Chris Mannix got NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to sit down for a wide-ranging interview. It was a fun experience for a show that may not have lasted long for a variety of reasons, but was an incredible learning experience.
This is a feature I wrote, edited and produced about Archie Manning, the next up-and-coming football star from the Manning family.
This was a mean-spirited “woman-on-the-street” style video I produced for the live NBA Draft show that I executive produced.
This is a short clip from the red carpet show I shot and produced at Sports Illustrated’s “Sportsperson of the Year” event in 2019.
This was a big one for me as a huge baseball fan, it was very exciting to get to have some stupid fun with Mike Trout, one of the best baseball players of all time.
Got to interview Joey Chestnut for This, That or The Other the week before the July 4th Hot Dog Eating contest. Chestnut was up for some fun and he could not have been a better guest.
